Halo Olgeta! Bonjour! Greetings!

On behalf of the Government and Ministry of Education & Training, I welcome you to the Vanuatu Government Scholarships webpage!

The page has been created purposefully to assist you and students find the information you need to know about Vanuatu Government Scholarships.

Vanuatu’s National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2030 (The People’s Plan 2030) is the overarching policy framework that inspires the redesign of the National Scholarships policy and its future allotment of scholarships to priority sectors and areas identified in the plan. Founded on our culture, traditional knowledge and Christian principles, our people and place are at the heart of our development aspirations. Vanuatu Government Scholarships provide the key means for the Government to build the human resources the nation needs in order to achieve our development goals across our Society, Environment, and Economy pillars. As such scholarships awarded to students and nationals are the means to achieve human resource development goals and needs of the country, and not the goal of going to study! A scholarship award must be cherished by the recipient as the best privilege that one can get in order to attain high qualifications. Scholarship award is not a right!

We must use our limited resources wisely and effectively. All our scholarships must be focused on areas of study which will make a direct contribution to our national development goals and aspirations. In building the future of our country, we will concentrate on supporting candidates from across all our islands who display vision, commitment, and determination to work hard and succeed. We need people with leadership potential who will seek to contribute in finding solutions to the many complex and emerging issues facing our small nation. And we need people who commit themselves to work hard to uphold the vision of our founding fathers and national leaders who advocate for a better Vanuatu of tomorrow for our children. Vanuatu Government Scholarships are aimed to support those who will prioritise their study, work hard and on graduation, make positive and valuable contributions to our development.

I invite you to surf and discover this webpage. I also invite you to take some time to read through relevant information on these pages carefully.

Counting on your strong determination and commitment to help Vanuatu, I now take this opportunity to wish you success in your future studies!

Stay blessed!

Hon. Jean-Pierre NIRUA
